After it took Yahoo! over a week to finally release my domain, I have the site back up and running. I ran into a few problems with BlueHost changing my database name and having a different DB_HOST setting, but after scouring a few forums I have everything back up and running. I lost a few comments on my previous post due to the fact that they were posted after I made my last backup. Other than that, it was a smooth transition. Hopefully, this will fix my speed issues and keep the site as accessible as possible. Enjoy!

Not the end of the world, but simply the end of my full-time trading career. I have been going at this for almost two years now with limited success. I know that I will never leave the markets altogether, but at this time I think it is wise to make a change. I have accepted a position with Ameriprise Financial in Birmingham, AL and I will be moving in the next month or two. This move is essential if I hope to build a career in finance.
The last two weeks of my time have been devoted to going through the motions of the hiring process, filling out paper work and studying for exams. I have to pass the Series 7 and Series 66 along with the AL State Insurance Licensing Exam. I don’t have to quit trading until after I pass the exams, but I will be studying non-stop and will not have time to trade.
I have enjoyed this blog and all the comments and e-mails I have gotten from readers. I will be posting here from time to time, and will eventually start a new blog about financial advising. TradeItUp will still be trading and posting like we have always done, so there will still be content here to read. Who knows, I might eventually get back to some kind of trading (most likely swing trading) in due time and shift the focus of this blog. I will keep everyone informed of my progress.
Good luck in trading,

P.S. A special thanks to Stewie for his mentoring, Denarii for his friendship and daily conversations, Dinosaur for my time in the VO and position as VO Host for the month of March, and to all my friends over at WallStreak. Make some “cake” for me!
I have had a few complaints in the comments about how slow the site has been lately. I noticed the slow down about two weeks ago and have been in contact with Yahoo! Hosting to see if they can fix the problem. They have yet to find the problem and the site continues to be slow. All I know to do is upgrade to the newest version of WordPress (which I don’t think will do any good) or switch hosting providers. I have two domains with Yahoo!, and my other one is running two websites without any issues.
At any rate, I just wanted to apologize for the lag, and let everyone know that I am doing everything I can to get the problem fixed. I will be upgrading to the newest version of WordPress today and you could experience intermittent service. I also will not be posting The 8:01 Report today as posting to the site is just as slow as loading it.
I’ll see you guys on the other side of this upgrade, that is if I don’t totally botch the site in the process.
Upon reading DT’s comment about our TraderInterview I felt compelled to express my gratitude for his unequivocal abilities as a mentor. I mean just read over these insightful quotes I pulled directly from his blog. Genius!!!
Working less is one of my goals in life.
Trading is a great job when the money is pouring in.
Hint… I’m the raccoon.
10 minutes later I can look back and know that throwing my water bottle against my windshield only hurt myself
So on Monday, the futures closed near their lows… I think.
Yep, “the subprimers” are out picking up their 6-packs of Bud while we speak. Party on subprimers, party on.
What an inspiration! So here’s to you DT, I will let the following video speak for itself.
The life of a trader can be quite lonely at times. Working long hours staring at a computer monitor, looking at charts, reading news, doing research and taking the occasional lunch-time nap. There is very little, if any, interaction with other people during the trading day. For this reason many traders use the internet as a way to communicate with others whether it be with blogs, message boards, chat rooms, or videos. We are no different, we started this blog as a way to track our trading performance, but also as a way to make connections with other traders.
For several months now I have been actively involved in the conversations over at WallStreak which is a great market chat community setup by Ugly. I have met a lot of great traders there and I think each individual that participates is a better trader for it. The next step in my mass communication endeavor is to try to reach more people with this blog, thereby contributing more to the trading community and maybe getting a little back in return. To accomplish this I have decided to join the Virtual Office over at DinosaurTrader’s blog.
What is the VO? Quite simply the VO is a collection of P&Ls from trader around the globe. Each day after the market closes, DT gathers the numbers and posts them on his site. Why do we need a Virtual Office? Well, as DT explains it…
As a trader who worked for a long time in a large office and is now trading alone in a dark, wet cave, I miss the camaraderie of working with other traders. In an office, at the end of the day, there was always that one guy who had a good day. Often, a group of 4 or 5 traders would be surrounding his work area and he’d be sitting there in a chair pointing at graphs and telling the group how he made his money. That’s the type of spirit I hope the Virtual Office can engender.
How long has the VO been going? After a little research, I found that the VO was started on April 7, 2007. Here is the post that started it all. Why did I join the VO? As I alluded to earlier, my main reason for joining is to make connections with other traders, however, in my official introduction its apparent that I am also there to make the other members feel better while I “pad the lower depths of the VO”. For my sake, I hope I can pad the upper echelons of the VO.
